Obituary Collection
Nance Lapp

For years I wondered who the Nancy LAPP was that was buried in the Conover family plot (my great grandparents). I recently unraveled the mystery -- she was my great-great grandmother who remarried after my great-great grandfather's death. Nancy WEATHERHOLT HIESTAND LAPP was mother to Mary HIESTAND CONOVER and Kate HIESTAND FITCH, grandmother to Lena CONOVER JACKSON (who are all buried in the Farnam Cemetery), and Glenn CONOVER who died in France during WWI. Nancy's first husband, Mathusalem/Methuselah HIESTAND died before 1880, presumably in Knox Co., Missouri. Nancy remarried Benjamin LAPP in January 1880 in Knox County, Missouri. 1900 Census records for Nebraska indicate Nancy was born in Pennsylvania in October 1825 and she probably died in December 1909 or January 1910 in Farnam. After her second marriage to Benjamin LAPP, the couple and some of the children from each of their first marriages wound up in Nebraska. Benjamin and Nancy LAPP eventually resided in Moorefield, NE until Benjamin's death in 1897 or 1898. A year or so after Benjamin's death, Nancy moved in with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Nick CONOVER, and their children, and resided with them until her death.
