Young Couple Asphyxiated

The bodies of two tudents of the Curtis school were found in a parked car near the public school building in Curtis Monday morning, where it is thought they had been since Saturday night.

The girl was Ruth Klein, daughter of Louis Klein who resides on a farm twelve miles south of Farnam and the boy was named Owens from near Stockville.

The gas tank of the car was empty and the switch key was turned on, which leads to the belief that their death was caused by monoxide gas. (2/7/1944)

Ruth Mae Klein, daughter of Louis and Nona Klein, was born May 26, 1927 at Orafino, Nebraska and died February 12, 1944 at Curtis, Nebraska.

She attended the rural school until ready for high school, and then entered the Curtis Agricultural High School and continued her studies there until her death, which was in her senior year. She had planned to teach after graduation and was taking normal training in preparation.

Besides her father and mother there are living her brothers, Russell, Ross, and Raymond all at home; her grandfather Osten Klein of Orafino, and grandfather and grandmother, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hayworth of Gothenburg, Nebraska. She was of a cheerful, happy disposition and greatly interested in her school work.

Funeral srvices are to be held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 pm at the Farnam Methodist Church with Rev. L. A. Moore of Curtis and Rev. E. H. Tipton of Farnam officiating.

Burial to be in the Farnam Cemetery.
