Louis John Klein
Louis John Klein, oldest son of Oston and Etta Harms Klein, was born February 2, 1901, at Holstein, Nebraska, one of six children.
At the age of one year, Louis came to Frontier county with his family and lived until his death in the area south of Farnam. He was a resident of Frontier county for 73 years and a rancher-farmer in this area for over 50 years.
On November 5, 1924, he married Nona May Hayworth. This past November 4, 1974, Louis and Nona shared their cherished memories of 50 years of married life by celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary. Born to this union were four children, three sons and one daughter: Russel Eugene, Ruth Mae, Ross John and Raymond Lester.
Louis was baptized and took membership in the Church of the Nazarene and held membership in the Grace United Methodist Church of the Orafino Community of Frontier county.
He enjoyed good health until stricken suddenly with a heart attack on January 8, and departed this life on January 10, 1975, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and 23 days.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth Mae, at the age of 16 years, one grandson, David LaVern Klein, who died at birth; his parents; two sisters: Mrs. Jack (Ella) Miller, and Mrs. Wilbur (Emma) Darnall.
He is survived by his wife, Nona, of Farnam; three sons, Russel, of Medford, Oregon; and Ross and Raymond of Farnam; three daughters-in-law; 13 grandchildren, and six great grandchildren; two sisters: Anna Klein of North Platte, and Mrs. Evern (Bessie) Darnall of Grand Island; one brother, Ernest Klein of Boulder, Colorado; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Louis was a very devoted husband and loving father. A man of deep convictions and a strong faith in God. His life was dedicated to hard work and a deep security for his family. His love and concern for his family and loved ones will be cherished forever.
Services were held Tuesday morning, January 14, 1975, at the Church of the Nazarene at Farnam, Nebraska, with Rev. James Moores of the United Methodist Church of Elwood, and Rev. Harold Ellis of the Church of the Nazarene of Farnam, officiating. Music was by Mrs. Paul Sukraw and Jay L. Rice of Gothenburg, with Mrs. Elvin Piersol of Farnam, as pianist. Pallbearers were Wilbur Sheffield, Roland Sheffield, Richard Derra, William Hill, Russell Wilcox and Russell Williams. Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.
