Adolph F. Juilfs
Adolph F. Juilfs, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Juilfs, was born January 7, 1876, in Champaign, Ill. Soon after his birth he was baptized in the Lutheran church of Champaign. When he was about nine years of age he came with his parents to the Gothenburg community. Here hw was instructed in the truths of God’s Word after which he was confirmed in the former Christ Lutheran church on the 10th day of April, 1892. After confirmation he moved with his parents to Holyoke, Colorado, where they lived about 7 years. Then they moved to the Farnam community where he lived until about 4 years ago, when because of ill health he moved to Lexington.
Mr. Juilfs had always been engaged in the occupation of farming until his health failed. Because he felt it his responsibility to care for his mother in later years he did not marry.
Mr. Juilfs passed away in Lexington Sunday evening at 5:10, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 1 day. He was the last of the members of his family to pass away. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, 2 sisters and his parents.
His closest survivors are his three nieces and three three nephews: Mrs. Frank Duis, Miss Anna Rosendahl, and Mrs. Harry Soller of Gothenburg, and John Rosendahl, Folly Rosendahl of Gothenburg and John Franzen of Farnam. There are also a great number of other relatives.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 11, at 1:30 at the Olesen Funeral Home and at 2:30 at the Farnam Methodist church, Rev. R. Beckman, pastor of the Gothenburg American Lutheran church officiating. Interment in the Farnam cemetery.
The singers were Mrs. Marie Blomquist, Mrs. Pansy Piersol and Dale Montgomery. Mrs. Raymond Smith accompanied them at the piano.
Art Heumphreus, Ray Griffis, Lonnie Teel, Fred Schulz, John Bosch and Bert Bosch served as pallbearers.
