George Oliver Jones
George Oliver Jones, son of Pierce and Mary Elizabeth (Reeves) Jones, was born in Warrensberg, Missouri on the first day of April 1872 and departed this life at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. E. Pollard in Farnam on March 20, 1943 at 8:30 pm being at the time of his death, seventy years, eleven months, and twenty days of age.
At the age of five years he moved with his parents to Lovila, Iowa, where he grew to manhood. When residing there he was united in marriage to Jennie Phenia Reeves in Bussy, Iowa.
To this union five children were born, Mrs. Charles E. Pollard of Farnam; Lieut. Harold O. Jones of Lake Bluffs, Illinois; Mrs. Wells C. Jones of North Platte, Nebraska; James H. Jones of Fire Lake, Michigan; and Mattison D. Jones of Detroit, Michigan.
Surviving are his wife, five children, two brothers Edward Jones of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Mattison Jones of Colony, Kansas, and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Donegan of Fort Collins, Colorado, also eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was a member of the First Nazarene Church of Detroit, Michigan and expressed himself as having no fear in answering the call of his maker.
During his lingering illness he was very appreciative of every thing done for him, always patient and understand. His passing leaves a place in the hearts of his loved ones that can never be filled.
Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. H. Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.
