Dora (Tufts) Johnston
Dora Frances, daughter of Mason James and Jeanette (Wyckoff) Tufts, was born in Canadaigna, New York on December 22, 1857 and departed this life at her home in Farnam June 25, 1945.
Her early life was spent with her parents in Pennsylvania and New York. They came to Nebraska in 1883, and she was united in marriage to Wm. M. Johnston on May 28, 1884 in the Episcopal Church at Lexington. Of this marriage one daughter was born, Jessie D., now Mrs. S. D. Ralston of Grand Island, Nebraska. She was an ardent worker in the Episcopal church and took great interest in all community projects.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her daughter; granddaughter Jean Ralston of Grand Island; grandson John Ralston now serving in the armed forces; her sister Minnie, Mrs. Sam Parker, and a great number of other relatives. Her husband, William Johnston preceded her in death on October 6, 1915.
She retained all her faculties to within a very short time of her death.
Known as Aunt Dora by her many friends around Farnam, she will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered for many years to come.
Funeral services will held at the home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. R. A. Johnson and the Chester Hugo Funeral Service and burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ralph Clement, Ralph Parker, Henry Gewecke, Lee Hudson, H.B. Taylor, and Dan McNickle. The music was a solo by Mrs. Hugo Blomquist with Mrs. Harry Saum as the accompaniest.
