Velma Elsie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hand, was born January 10, 1912, at Moorefield, Nebraska and passed away at the Lexington hospital, following critical burns at her home early that morning, February 27, 1951, at the age of 39 years, one month and seventeen days. She graduated from Moorefield high school with class of ’30.

She was united in marriage to Irvin C. Johnson, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson at Stockville, April 14, 1932 at North Platte. To this union five children were born.

She is survived by her husband; three daughters and two sons: RoJean Crawford of Moorefield, Roberta, Merle, Wayne and Jeannette at home; her parents and one brother, Vaughn Hand of Moorefield, a foster brother, Carlos Hoyt of Gering and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Methodist Church of Farnam, Elder E. E. Giesler of Moorefield officiating. She was laid to rest in the Farnam cemetery.
