Mary Ellen (Seth) Jackson
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Jackson, following an illness of three weeks. A short service was held at the Jansen-Hugo Funeral Home at Gothenburg. Followed with services at the local Baptist church, conducted by Rev. Andeson of Gothenburg. The music was furnished by a quartet, Mrs. Lloyd Harlen, Mrs. Erie Nelson, Nelton Friesenborg, and Arthur Larson, accompanied by Miss Nannie Nelson, all of Gothenburg.
The pallbearers were Dan McNickle, Harvey McNickle, Dwight Stebbins, Clyde McElmoil, S.B. Camerson and Albert LaBounty.
Mary Ellen (Seth) Jackson was born March 27, 1863 in Pike County, Ohio, [to Hiram H. and Lavina (Maple) Seth] and passed away at Gothenburg, Nebraska on July 1, 1939, attaining the age of seventy-six years, three months, and four days.
In 1888, she moved to Farnam and most of her years were spent in this community.
On February 17, 1890, she was married to Chas. E. Jackson.
At the age of 18 years she was baptized in the Baptist church at Farmington, Iowa, later transferring her membership to the Baptist Church in Farnam and recently to the church in Gothenburg.
She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Mrs. Stella Patterson of Gothenburg, and Mrs. Hazel Smith of Hood River, Oregon; one son, Roland of Mountain View, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; also three sisters, Mrs. Nanny Vest of Broadwater, Nebraska, Mrs. Elizabeth Roberts of Long Beach, California and Mrs. Margaret Kinder of Blakesburg, Iowa. Her husband and one son preceded her in death.
