Obituary Collection
O. Lee Hudson

Oliver Lee Hudson, the son of George and Ella Hudson, was born April 26, 1887, on a farm south of Farnam. He attended school and grew to manhood in the Stockville-Farnam area. At the age of twenty-one he started in the dray business in Farnam.

On November 4, 1908, he was united in marriage to Mable Ellen Cloyd at Farnam, to this union four children were born: two sons Gilbert and Kenneth and two daughters, Madolene and Faye.

The family lived in Farnam all their lives where Lee served his community in many ways; he was town marshall for nearly forty years, was ice man from 1916 to 1950, and delivered milk and groceries from 1943 until his retirement in 1967 at the age of 80 years. He also served on the Farnam School board from 1927 to 1938.

Lee Hudson passed away on January 5, 1972, at the hospital in Cozad at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 9 days. He was preceeded in death by his wife and son Kenneth and two brothers. He leaves to mourn his death, two daughters, Faye Waits, Gering, Nebraska and Madolene Edson of Fremont, Nebraska, one son, Gilbert Hudson of Orange, California, two sisters, Ida Shinley of Red Bluff, California and Florence Morton of Torrington, Wyoming, one brother Art Hudson of Curtis, Nebraska, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Services were held at the Church of the Nazarene at Farnam, January 8, 1972 , at 2:00 p.m. Clergymen Rev. Kenneth Coursey and Rev. Conley Hinrichs officiated. Music was by Mrs. Deloras Nickerson, Mrs. Ardyce Bick accompanied by Mrs. Evelyn Davis.

Pallbearers were Larry Edson, Ron Waits, Cecil Morton, Don Stafford, Jerry Martin, and Merle Johnson.

Interment was at the Farnam Cemetery.
