Maud Hopkins Passed
Away After
Lingering Illness

Mrs. Maud G. Hopkins passed away Thursday in a Gothenburg hospital after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 5, in the Farnam Methodist Church, with Rev. Harold O. Massie officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Charley Pollard, Mrs. Elvin Piersol and Irvin Hess sang, accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Smith. Pallbearers were Roland Lehman, Russell Wilcox, Alvin McMichael, Ralph Parker, John Sturgeon and Henry Sturgeon.

Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.

McVay Olesen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.


OBITUARY
Maud G. Hopkins

Maud Gertrude daughter of Jacob and Lydia Horn was born at Coshocton, Ohio March 29, 1879 and departed this life at the Gothenburg hospital February 1, 1962 at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 3 days.

At an early age she moved with her parents to a farm at Elwood in Gosper county, Nebraska where she grew to womanhood.

She was united in marriage to William E. Hopkins on March 12, 1901. To this union were born eleven children. She was preceded in death by her husband, William E., 1947, one daughter, Myrtle and an infant son.

She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Mrs. Irene Hercy, of Gothenburg; and eight sons, Richard and Earl of Stockville, Loyd, Clifford, and Leland of Farnam, Oren of Wauneta, Nebr., Harold of Haines, Oregon, and Bernard of Omaha; four daughters-in-law, and one son-in-law.

Also 16 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Five sisters Mrs. May Hardesty of Arapahoe, Mrs. Dora Mason of Salem, Oregon, Mrs. Minnie Barrett of Randall, Kansas, Mrs. Gladys Brown of Wauneta, Nebr., Mrs. Bertha Downer of Meridian, Idaho; and one brother R. J. Horn of Evans, Colo., and many other relatives and friends.

She devoted a big part of her life lending a willing and helpful hand to those around her who were in need and trouble, such living kindness will leave many endearing memories to be cherished by her family and friends.
