Mary Ellen Burnett
Mary Ellen Burnett was born in Gentry County, Missouri November 6, 187[6], and passed away at her home in Farnam, Nebr., January 29, 1934 at the age of 5[7] years, 2 months and 24 days.
She grew to womanhood in the community in which she was born and was united in marriage to W.E. Hines in 1898. To this union nine children were born. Two preceded her in death. Her life was spent in Missouri, until the family moved to Nebraska in 1920, where she resided until the time of her death.
She was baptized in the Christian Church at the age of 18.
She was a devoted wife and mother. Always willing to think of others first.
She had a lingering illness for the past several years, but bore her suffering patiently and without a murmur.
She leaves to her passing her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Burnett of Worth Mo., her husband W. E. Hines, four daughters, Mrs. Leo Berg, Parnell, Mo., Mrs. Lloyd Hoffman, Grand Island, Nebr., Catherine and Genevee at home, three sons, Irven of Craig, Mo., Howard of Grand Island, and Raymond at home. Three brothers, George of Gentry, Mo., Charles in California and James of Grover, Colorado. One sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
Rest weary heart,
From all thy silent grief and pain.
Thy profitless regrets and longings vain.
Wisdom and love have ordered all the past,
All shall be blessedness and joy at last.
Cast off the cares that have so long oppressed,
And rest, sweetly rest.
Funeral services were held at the home conducted by Rev. C. R. Tanner. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.
