Elmer R. Hilton
COZAD — Elmer R. Hilton, 90, of rural Cozad, died Saturday at his home northeast of Gothenburg. He was born July 23, 1900, near Farnam to Frank and Sadie Murray Hilton.
He attended school near Farnam. He married Eva Keiper Oct. 30, 1924, at Norton, Kan. They moved to near Lexington in 1939. Then, they moved northeast of Gothenburg to Roten Valley in 1947.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cozad and the Eagles Lodge No. 2839 of North Platte.
Survivors include three sons, Leonard and his wife, Virginia, of Gothenburg, Orville of Cozad and Marvin and his wife, Carol, of Marysville, Kan.; two daughters, Doris (Mrs. George) Hergenrader and June (Mrs. Gerald) Walker, both of North Platte; two brothers, Albert of Sutherland and Roy of Elwood; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-granchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Henry and Charlie; one sister, Rebecca Devine; and one granddaughter.
Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Gothenburg with the Rev. Roger Eschliman officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the America Diabetes Association or the American Lung Association.
McVay Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
