Mrs. G. S. Hicks Passes Away in California
Word was received here Monday of this week from W. L. Hicks of Los Angeles, Calif., of the death of his mother. The body will arrive at Gothenburg today and will be brought here for burial in the Farnam cemetery by the side of her husband who was laid to rest several years ago.
Mrs. Hicks was one of the early settlers in this community, but moved away about twenty years ago, and has made her home in the west since that time.
The obituary will be published next week.

OBITUARY Mrs. G. S. Hicks
Helen A. Miller was born September 9, 1839 in New York and passed away October 11, 1929 at Los Angeles, California. Age 90 years and 32 days.
She was married to George Hicks September 30, 1861 and spent the earlier part of her life in Michigan, where her husband was a Methodist minister. They came to Nebraska in 1887.
Her husband died on May 9, 1907 in Farnam, three years later she went west and spent the remainder of her life in points on the west coast.
To this union was born five sons: William L., Horace B., Charles F., Irving W., and George B., of these Irving has preceded her in death. passing away in 1926.
Besides her sons, sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, there is a host of other relatives and friends who mourn her departure.
The remains arrived here last Thursday, by the way of Gothenburg and the funeral services were held at the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. C. R. Tanner, pastor.
Burial was in the Farnam cemetery.
