Clara Irwin Hicks was born October 23, 1883, at Winfield, Iowa. In 1909 she moved to Farnam to teach in the public school. On October 5, 1910 she was united in marriage to Joseph L. Hicks.

To this union two children were born: Mildred Edson of North Platte, Nebraska and Gerald Hicks of Kennewick, Washington.

Clara joined the Methodist Church as a girl of about 12 years of age and this last spring she received her 50 year membership pin. She leaves to her family and community a life of active participation in her church.

Preceding her in death are her husband, Joseph and a brother, Glen Irwin. Surviving her passing are her two children; five grandchildren; one great-grand child; three sisters, Lulu Barclay of Ottumwa, Iowa, Nellie Smith of Greeley, Colo., Myrtle Cole of Pasadina, Calif., and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Quincy A. Murphree officiating.
