OBITUARY OF MRS. S. F. HAZEN

Elizabeth Jane Brand was born in Pickaway County, Ohio, March 13, 1850 and passed away at her home south of Farnam, August 8, 1930.

She was married February, 1872 to Sylvester F. Hazen at Arvana, Ill. To this union five children were born, three having preceded their mother in death. The two living are Mrs. C. A. Rosenfelt of Moorefield and Mrs. James Hazen of this place. She also leaves her husband, Sylvester F. Hazen, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hazen lived in Ohio until six years of age, when she moved with her parents to Campaign County, Illinois. Then in 1884 they came to Nebraska where they homesteaded near Farnam and she lived near Farnam since.

She was baptized and became a member of the Methodist church when a young woman. Later she united with the United Brethren church where she remained a member to her death.

Mrs. Hazen was a devoted wife and mother, also a good neighbor and will be greatly missed not only by the family but her many friends as well.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. C. R. Tanner.

Interment was made in the Farnam cemetery.
