Claude DeForest Hayden was born June 2, 1883 at Olmstead, Ohio. He departed this life January 25, 1954 at his home in Curtis, Nebr.

He was the only son of Edward and Retta Hayden.

He moved with his parents to Farnam, Nebr. at the age of two, living on a homestead.

He was married to Katie Mayfield on December 21, 1903. To this union four children were born: Frances, Dennis, Margaret and a daughter who passed away in infancy.

The family moved to Curtis from a farm south of Farnam in the spring of 1915. His first wife passed away July 24, 1919.

He was married to Nellie Stoll on July 25, 1923. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1952.

He is survived by one sister, two daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

He served Frontier county as county surveyor for about 40 years.

Burial was in the Farnam cemetery.
