Obituary Collection
Edna M. (Adkisson) Hathaway

Edna Mabel Adkisson Hathaway, the daughter of John and Mabel Adkisson, was born April 20, 1905, in Frontier County, Nebr., and died on Thursday, Febr. 5, 1981, at Gothenburg at the age of 75 years.

On March 26, 1924, she was united in marriage to John O. (Bud) Hathaway and to this union two children were born. They made their home in Frontier and Lincoln Counties and later moved to their home in Farnam.

Edna was a member of the Farnam American Legion Auxiliary and was very active until poor health slowed her down.

Even with Edna's many handicaps she kept her hands very busy with piecing and tying quilts during her stay at Long Term. She was a person who could cheer anyone up who went to visit her. You felt so much better when you left as she gave out so much more than anyone could give to her.

She was preceded in death by her husband in August 1956, her daughter Syvallia in March 1929, her parents, four brothers and one sister.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Eucillis and Russell Wilcox, two grandchildren, Sheila and husband Ron Ecklund and Marla and husband Rod Klein. Five great-grandchildren, Ryan, Courtney and Ashley Ecklund and Amy and Michala Klein. Four sisters, Stella Lehman and Zella Messersmith of Farnam, Lula Stapp of Cambridge and Hazel Lilyhorn of Holdrege.

Two brothers, Harold Adkisson of Farnam and Harry Adkisson of Hastings and many other relatives and friends.

She was and always will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother and friend. She was always so thoughtful, cheerful and never complained.

Services were Feb. 7 at Farnam United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kark L, Lent and the Rev. Lisle E. Mewmaw officiating. Music was provided by Mrs. John Hazen, organist.

Casketbearers were Keith Messersmith, Kenneth Adkisson, Raymond Tillotson, Larry King, Scott Adkisson and Carl Johnson.

Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.
