Amos McClellan Hampson
Amos McClellan Hampson was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, July 27, 1864, and passed away on February 19, 1950 at the home of his son, Bert Hampson, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, and 22 days.
He came to Nebraska in the year of 1886 and settled on a farm north of Cambridge, and spent most of his life in Frontier and Dawson counties.
He was married to Fannie Amelia Jones in November 1893. She preceded him in death in 1937. To this union were born eight children; two daughters, Ina and Hazel and a son, Dean, preceded him in death. Those left to mourn his loss are: Lula Wilson, Walnut Creek, California, Blanche Surber, Buhl, Idaho, Leta Stapp, Ethel Rosendahl and Bert Hampson of Gothenburg. He also has one brother at Caldwell, Idaho, two half-sisters and two half-brothers, as well as twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 23rd, from the Hugo & McVay Funeral Home at 1:30 to the Farnam Methodist church at 2:30 with Rev. L. D. Compton of Farnam officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Hugo Blomquist, Mrs. Elvin Piersol, Earl Hess, and Charley Pollard accompanied by Mrs. Raymond Smith.
The pallbearers were: Chris Hess, Joe Hicks, Fred Rowland, J.O. Hathaway, Fred Johnson and Allan Tridle. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.
