Obituary Collection
Mrs. A. P. Griffis

Amy Eliza Jackson was born in Penfield, O., April 23, 1860, one of the family of six children of James and Gale Jackson, all of whom have preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist church of Penfield, and later transferred her membership to the Congregational Church at Farnam.

In early life she came to Ragan, Nebraska, where she taught school, and later settled at Farnam.

She was united in marriage to A. P. Griffis, April 16, 1890, in the Congregational church at Farnam. To this union were born four children. She has made her home at Idaho Springs, Colo., with her daughter, Celia, since her husband’s death in 1930.

She passed away March 13, 1940, at 10:15 p.m., with bronchial pneumonia, at St. Luke’s hospital in Denver. She leaves to mourn her loss, four children: Emma L. Palmer of Farnam, James A. Griffis of Farnam, Alice M. Palmer of Ogallala, and Celia A. Stouffer of Idaho Springs, Colo., one grandson, Wayne C. Palmer, and one great-granddaughter, Barbara Jean, both of Chicago, Ill.

She was a faithful follower of Christ, and active in church work, a good wife and a wonderful mother.

Funeral services were held at the Episcopal church (formerly the Congregational church) in charge of Rev. Loren Messersmith of Stockville, Neb. Music was furnished by a male quartet, John, Harve, and Dan McNickle, and Marion Thayer, with Mrs. Loren Fitch at the piano. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.
