In 1892 they left Ohiowa to settle near Moorefield, Nebraska. In 1906 they moved to their farm in Lincoln County, residing there until the year of 1919 when they moved to Farnam.

The Gewecke family have been well and favorably known for many years. The children having grown to manhood and womanhood in this community.

Mrs. Gewecke was a devoted Christian, having been confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Crown Point, Indiana at the age of thirteen.

Through the years she loved to attend church and enjoying the singing of hymns. On occasions Mrs. Gewecke sang some of these hymns in German, being a former member of the choir in Crown Point, Indiana.

In spite of ill health she was ever thinking of others, sacrificing everything for her family, until age and sickness interfered. She took a great delight in attending the Methodist Church of Farnam.

March 7, 1941, Mr. and Mrs. Gewecke celebrated their 59th Wedding Anniversary. It was a source of great joy for her to participate in that event; listening to the radio and singing the song, "Silver Threads Among the Gold" which was dedicated in their honor. She manifested real enjoyment as the cards and telegrams were read to her.

Her death came as a shock to the family but it was quite evident to those near and dear that she was ready to meet her Lord. She will be greatly missed by her sorrowing husband and family and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Mitchell, Miss Gayle Dawson and Rev. Anderson, under the direction of the Sholund Funeral Service. Interment was in the Farnam cemetery.
