Susan A. (Barnhart) Gardner
Susan A. Barnhart was born June 9, 1875, near Slippery Rock,
Pa., and departed this life at the Gothenburg Hospital, December
21, 1952 at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 12 days.
In the spring of 1885, she moved with her parents to Nebraska,
living a short time at Lexington, then moving to a homestead
South and East of Farnam.
She was united in marriage to Howard C. Gardner at Stockville,
Nebraska, March 21, 1895 and to this union two children were
born, Clyde W. and Hazel.
They resided on Mr. Gardner’s homestead south of Farnam until
1929, then moving to their present home where they celebrated
their Golden wedding anniversary 7 years ago.
Mrs. Gardner was a member of the Methodist church and of the
North Union Aid. She was a willing and cheerful worker in the
community and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, a son, Clyde of
Farnam and a daughter, Mrs. Tony Funk of Douglas, Wyoming, 4
grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, several nieces and
nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Farnam
Tues, December 23, at 2:00 P.M., Rev. B. H. Hart officiated.
Pallbearers were Arch Jorgensen, Edgar King, John Rowland, Burr
Parker, Jay Rice and Hugo Blomquist. Honorary pallbearers were
Albert LaBounty, Jim Hazen, Robert Lydic, A. H. Gewecke, Lee
Hudson and A.B. Thrasher.
Interment in Farnam cemetery with the Olson Funeral Home in
charge.
