FUNERAL SERVICES FRIDAY
FOR MRS. CATHERINE FRANZEN

Funeral services will be held (today) Friday afternoon for Mrs. Grace Catherine Franzen, at the Methodist church at Farnam. The service will be conducted by Wm. J. Hummel, pastor of the St. John’s Lutheran church of Gothenburg.

Born at Champaigne, Ill., on Sept. 10, 1872, she was 66 years, 5 months and 11 days, at the time of her death Tuesday evening at a hospital in Gothenburg.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Harry Sollers, and two sons, John and Wm.

Mrs. William Franzen

Grace Catherine Juilfs was born Sept. 10, 1872 at Champaign, Ill., In infancy she was baptized in the name of Triune God.

She came to Gothenburg with her parents in 1883 and they resided on a farm northeast of Gothenburg.

She was confirmed in Christ Lutheran Church on March 25, 1888.

She made her home with her parents until the year 1890, when she went to Holyoke, Colo., while a resident there she was united in marriage to Wm. Franzen, June 4, 1898.

In March 1901, the family moved to Farnam, Nebr., and resided on a farm near the city until her death. Her husband preceded her in death on Dec. 16, 1922.

The deceased had been in poor health for a number of years, the latter part of which she suffered considerably and all that loving hands could do for her was done, but to no avail. It pleased his Heavenly Father to release her from this life of suffering and pain. She passed away at Gothenburg at the age of 66 years, 5 months and 11 days.

Left to mourn the passing of a loving mother are, a daughter, Mrs. Harry Soller of Gothenburg and two sons, Fred and John Franzen of Farnam; a sister, Mrs. George Rosendahl of Gothenburg; a brother, Adolph Juilfs of Farnam.

Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 24, from the Janssen and Hugo mortuary and at the Baptist church at Farnam were conducted by Rev. Wm. Hummel, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran church of Gothenburg.

The pallbearers were Wm. Soller, Gert Rosendahl, Herman Witte, Wm. Meester, Chris Hess and Angie Miller. Interment was made in the Farnam cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Wm. Hummel and Mrs. Fred Arterburn accompanied by Mrs. Florence Janssen.

We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to our friends and neighbors who assisted us, and performed so many acts of kindness, during the sickness, death and burial of our beloved mother, and to the ones who sang and for the beautiful flowers.
