Eleanor 'Alpha' (Austin) Foote
Eleanor 'Alpha' Foote, 87, died Thursday at a McCook nursing home. She was born Oct. 9, 1902, at Hayes County to James Irving and Alice Cordelia Souder Austin and attended schools in Hayes and Frontier counties. She graduated from Curtis High School, McCook Community College and Kearney State College and taught school for many years in Red Willow and Frontier counties.
On Dec. 21, 1920, she married Grover Thurman Foote at North Platte.
Mrs. Foote was a member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church and Delta kappa Gamma.
Survivors include two sons, Thurman of Maywood and George of Manhattan, Kan.; a sister, Zoa Wear of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955.
Services will be today 11:30 a.m. at the St. Alban's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Robert Trask officiating. Burial will be in in the Farnam Cemetery.
A memorial has been established.
Carpenter-Breland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
