Livina S. Ernst

GOTHENBURG — Livina S. Ernst, 95, formerly of Farnam died Jan. 12, 2003, at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand.

She was born Feb. 1, 1907, the second child born to August and Metta Hallier Langenberg, west of Bertrand and was confirmed in the Hope Lutheran church at Smithfield.

On April 18, 1936, she married Jake Harry Ernst at Lexington and they made their home at Big Springs until 1941 when they moved to a farm southwest of Farnam. In 1958, they moved into Farnam and lived there until 1990. Her husband preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1977.

Mrs. Ernst was a member of the Farnam Methodist church since 1946 and for many years, was Communion Stewardess and a member of the Community Workers Extension Club, Ladies Card Group of Farnam, and Treasurer for the United Methodist Women for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth (Jerry) Jurgens of Eustis; four grandchildren, Rod (Stephanie) Jurgens of LaMars, Iowa, Debra Klein of Eustis, Judy (Duane) Schueth of Waverly and Deanna (Owen) Wilson of Moorefield; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; a sister, Caroline Langenberg of Bertrand; a step-daughter, Marie Langenberg of Lincoln; 10 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Roberta; a great-grandson, Zachery Jurgens; a stepson, Leonard Ernst; a step-great-grandson, Jason Ernst; her parents; three brothers, Chester, Harry and Lester.

Memorials are suggested to the donor’s choice.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Burial will be at the Farnam Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg, which is in charge.
