Jakie Harry Ernest
Jake Harry Ernst was born near Hickman, Nebraska on May 13, 1895. He passed away at his home in Farnam on Sunday, November 6, 1977 at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 24 days.
He was one of ten children born to John and Anna Ernst. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Hazard, Nebraska.
On April 25, 1923, he was united in marriage Ella Ziems after which they made they made their home in the Bertrand community. To this union was born a son, Leonard and a daughter Marie.
On April 18, 1936, he was united in marriage to Livina Langenberg. They started their life together at Big Springs, NE where Jake had been employed before his marriage. To this union was born a daughter, Ruth.
In 1941, he moved to the Farnam community where he was active as a farmer and a carpenter.
He is survived by his wife, Livina; one son, Leonard and his wife, Verna of Two Rivers, Wisconsin; two daughters-Marie and her husband, Irvin Langenberg of Shickley, Nebraska and Ruth and her husband, Jerry Jurgens of Farnam; also 14 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. In addition, he leaves one sister, Amana Langenberg of Bertrand and one brother, Ben Ernst of Torrington, Wyoming. He also leaves many other relatives and a host of friends who knew him.
Jake was a faithful member of the Farnam United Methodist Church since he united here on April 1, 1945. His acts of service and upkeep on the church building was most commendable thru the years.
Services were held at the Farnam United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 10, 1977 at 2 pm with the Pastor Leonard S. Clark and Pastor Harold Ellis of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Mrs. Pansy Peirsol served as organist and the Sanctuary Choir of the church sang two numbers, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “How Great Thou Art.”
Casket bearers included Anton Kotschwar, Robert Lindvall, Harold Anderson, Raymond Tillotson, Clyde Kotschwar and Donnie Franzen.
Honorary pallbearers were Ernie Lewis, Walter Kriemelmeyer, Roland Lehman, Byron Taylor, Bernie Lindvall, Wayne Thomsen, Fred Johnson, Harold Addison, Alvin McMichael, Gordon Cross, Charles Pollard, and Fred Beck.
