George Edson
George Edson, 87, of Farnam, died September 12, 1996.
He was born February 22, 1909, at Poole to Ivan Roscoe and Anna Hennrietta Tatum Edson. He married Elinor Mae Ward, January 13, 1931, at Norton, Kansas. She preceded him in death July 28, 1995. He was a long time farmer/rancher in the Farnam area. He moved to Farnam in 1980.
He served on the Farnam Co-op Board for nine years, the Lincoln County ASCS Board for eight years, the Lincoln County Extension Board for four years and the Farnam School Board for many years. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church in Farnam.
Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Goodman of Hawaii, Brenda (Jim) Countryman of Atlanta, Georgia and Janet Wise of Cambodia; two sons, Roger (Vi) Edson of Aubrey, Texas; and Ron (Beverly) Edson of Valparaiso; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Edson of Farnam; a brother, Roscoe Edson of Fremont; three sisters, Trena Stevenson of Hershey, Ruby Carmin of Wyoming and Dorothy Freeman of Arizona; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Richard; a sister, Grace and a brother, Earl.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 1996, at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Mark Shutt officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
