G. Richard ‘Dick’ Edson, Jr.
G. Richard ‘Dick’ Edson, Jr., 52, died Wednesday in a Lincoln hospital. He was born January 25, 1933 at Farnam.
He was a longtime farmer in the Farnam area and managed the Farnam Co-op Service Station for 13 years. He married Beverly Sypolt, January 24, 1954 at Farnam. He was a member of the Farnam United Methodist Church, the Farnam Volunteer Fire Department and EMT Squad. He was a Korean War veteran and a member of the Farnam American Legion Post No. 288 and very active in Marriage Encounter.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Edson of Farnam; two sons, Randy and his wife, Brenda, of Farnam, and Richard ‘Dutch’ and wife, Kristi of Gothenburg; two daughters, Dawn (Mrs. Charles) Rosvold of Lancaster, Texas, Kim of Lincoln; two brothers, Roger of Aubrey, Texas, and Ron of Lincoln; three sisters, Barbara Goodman of Hawaii, Brenda (Mrs. Jim) Countryman of Belvidere, Ill., and Jan Wise of Denver; and six grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with Rev. Robert Wigert officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.
A memorial has been established. McVay Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
