Obituary Collection
Elinor M. (Ward) Edson

Elinor M. Edson, 82, of Farnam died July 28, 1995, at Gothenburg Memorial Hospital Long Term.

She was born Nov. 14, 1912, at Cass County to John Otis and Mary May Robertson Ward. She married George R. Edson on Jan. 13, 1931, at Norton, Kan. She taught elementary school in the Omaha, North Platte and Gothenburg areas for many years. She worked as a nurse's aide at Slack Nursing Home for five years.

Mrs. Edson was a member of the United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

Survivors include her husband of Farnam; three daughters, Barbara Goodman of Hawaii, Brenda (James) Countryman of Atlanta, Ga., and Janet Wise of Cambodia; two sons, Roger (Violet) of Dallas, Texas, and Ron (Beverly) of Lincoln; a brother, Clifford "Barney" Ward of Callaway; 15 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by an infant son; a son, G. Richard; three sisters; and four brothers.

A memorial has been established.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Farnam with the Rev. Mark Schutt officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Blase Memorial Chapel in Gothenburg, which is in charge of arrangements.
