Mary Belle (Romp) Dryden

Mrs. Mary Dryden, a resident of Farnam and community for fifty-eight years died last Wednesday night just before midnight after a few weeks of illiness. After she became ill she was moved from her home to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Taylor, where she passed away.

Mary Belle Romp was born at Olmsted Falls, Ohio on October 29, 1857 and passed away at Farnam on February 2, 1944.

She was united in marriage to George B. Dryden in December 1878. To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. Kittie A. Crampton of Buhl, Idaho; Mrs. Gertrude Taylor of Farnam, and Mrs. Helen Reed of Portland, Oregon.

In 1885, the family came to Nebraska and settled on a homestead in Frontier county about three miles south of Farnam where they lived until the spring of 1919 when they moved to Farnam to the present home. She was one of the early members of the Farnam Congregational church of which she was a faithful member until the church disbanded, when she transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Besides her three daughters, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Carrie Ward of Cleveland, Ohio, two grandsons, three granddaughters, and six great grandchildren, also a host of friends. She was a wonderful mother.

Funeral serices were held Monday afternoon from the Chester Hugo funeral home in Gothenburg to her home here, with Rev. E.H. Tipton officiating. Pallbearers were Joe Hicks, Raymond Smith, Howard Gardner, Arch Jorgenson, Albeart LaBpounty and Lee Hudson.

Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.
