James Marion Dodd

The death of James Dodd occurred Sunday night May 6th at his home in Gothenburg. He homesteaded northeast of Farnam and was well known to older Farnam residents, having moved to Gothenburg about 15 years ago. Burial was in Farnam cemetery, Wednesday afternoon.

Obituary

The death of J. M. Dodd, a resident of Gothenburg for fifteen years, occurred on Sunday at his home in this city.

James Marion Dodd was born at Unionville, Appanoose county, Iowa, March 17, 1859.

He was united in holy wedlock to Almira Ellen Ireland, at Beaver City, November 20, 1888, and to this union were born six children: Thaddeus, William, Blanche and Albert. Two children, Delia and Nathan, and one granddaughter, Lillian, preceded him in death.

In his youth, Mr. Dodd professed conversion to Christ and united with the United Brethren Church.

In the spring of 1919, he moved to Gothenburg, where he has since resided.

After a brief illness, he passed away Sunday, May 6h, 1934, his age at death being 75 years, 1 month and 20 days.

His death is mourned by his beloved wife, four children and six grandchildren, together with a large number of friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist Church, Rev. Carl R. Carlson officiating. Burial was at the Farnam cemetery.
