Almira Dodd
Mrs. Almira Dodd, widow of James M. Dodd, passed away on Thursday, May
25th, 1939, at the age of 74 years, 6 months and 11 days. Born Almira
Ellen Irelan at Crawfordsville, Iowa, on November 14th, 1864, she moved
to Jewel County, Kansas, with her parents in 1884, and on November 20,
1888, she was united in marriage to James Marion Dodd. She had been a
resident of Gothenburg for the past twenty years.
A kind and devoted mother, and a friend to all who knew her, her passing
was mourned by a large circle. Of her six children, four survive her:
Thaddeus and William of Gothenburg, Albert of Julesburg, Colo., and
Blanche, of Wellfleet, Neb. A daughter, Delia, and a son, Nathan, and a
granddaughter, preceded her in death. Her husband passed away about five
years ago. Also left to mourn are six grandsons, one great-grandson,
three brothers, one sister, and two' step granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Methodist Church
which she joined in her youth, conducted by the church pastor, Rev. E.'
H.. Maynard. Pallbearers were . W. 0. Clark, W. E. Patterson, Clarence
Carlson, E. J. Loutzenheiser, H. C. Loutzenheiser, and Lester Patterson.
Interment was in Farnam cemetery.
