Dale E. "Doc" Devine

Dale E. "Doc" Devine, 68, of Cozad died Tuesday, February 7, 1995.

He was born June 26, 1926, near Farnam to Albert and Rebecca Hilton Devine. He was raised on farms near Farnam and north of Cozad. Following his education in rural school, he worked on the family farm with his father. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He owned and operated Doc’s 66 Station in Cozad from 1954 to 1984.

On February 6, 1966, he married Irene Easterday Fasse. They resided on a farmsite south of Cozad. He was a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Also a member of V.F.W., Rotary and was a past president of the Cozad Chamber of Commercy and Rotary.

He coached Legion Baseball for many years. Throughout his life he had been active in foster care of needy and troubled children.

Survivors include three brothers, Wayne and wife Norma Devine of Grand Island, Morris and wife Cora Devine of Gothenburg and Gilbert and wife Kelva Devine of Eustis; a step-son, Vern and wife Moni Fasse of Eustis; a step-daughter, Glenda and husband Dan Fleischmann of Eustis; five step-grandchildren, eight step-great-grandchildren and a special friend, Lorraine Schmeeckle of Cozad.

Mr. Devine was preceded in death by his wife, Irene in 1988 and an infant brother, Loren.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 1995, at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad with Elder Bernerd Buchanan of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating.

Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery with military rites by the Cozad Honor Guard.

A memorial has been established.

Berryman Funeral Home of Cozad was in charge of arrangements.
