Richard Derra, 90, of Farnam died Dec. 24, 2001, at his home.

He was born Feb. 17, 1911, to Henry George and Rosa Edwitch DeMars Derra at Campbell. The family moved to Farnam in 1930. He married Zoe Elizabeth Miller on Oct. 12, 1940, at Farnam. They lived in Farnam and moved to Eustis from 1942 to 1950. Since that time they had lived in the Farnam area. In 1979, he retired from farming. He enjoyed farming very much and he also followed high school athletics and Cornhusker Football.

Mr. Derra was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Farnam.

Survivors include three sons, Paul and Randy (Karen), both of Farnam and Bruce (Mary Jo) of Wheatland, Wyo.; six grandchildren, Christine Morton, Shelly Miller, Sandy Derra, Taylor Derra, Rand Dower and Rochelle Dower; three great-grandchildren, Mallory Morton, Jacob Morton and Evin Miller; a sister, Theresa (Wray) Lydic of Gothenburg; and a brother, Don (Vonnie) of Gothenburg.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Viola Hampson and Belle Thomalla Aug. 16, 2001; and two brothers, Bernard and Virgil Dec. 6, 2001.

Memorials are suggested to the Eustis Farnam Knights Athletic Program.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. today with the Revs. Donald O'Brien and Ferdinand Boehme officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

Blase Memorial Chapel of Gothenburg is in charge.
