Mrs. Ida Bell Dawson
Ida Bell McCabe was born in Davenport, Iowa, May 7, 1866, and passed away on February 4, 1953, at Omaha, at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 27 days.
She was united in marriage to John V. Dawson, July 9, 1890. He preceded her in death in 1940. To this union seven children were born, three of whom survive her, Mrs. Ruth McNickle, Farnam, Glenn Dawson, Santa Ana, California, and Merle Dawson, Pomona, California. One daughter, Mrs. Gayle Tibbets and three sons, Ray, Frank and Willie, preceded her in death. She also leaves four grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
She gave her heart to God in her early youth and remained a faithful Christian all the days of her life, and was a good neighbor and friend.
She was a member of the Methodist church, Gothenburg. For many years she was active in the WCTU, also a charter member of the North Aid society and a charter member of the Congregatioal church, Farnam.
When she moved with her husband to Gothenburg in 1924, she became a member of the Methodist church there.
Because of her failing health, she made her home with her daughter Ruth for the past three and one half years.
Funeral services were held in the Farnam Methodist church Saturday, February 7, at 2:00 with Rev. B. H. Hart officiating. Interment in the Farnam Cemetery.
