Elsie (Banks) Davis
Elsie (Banks) Davis, youngest daughter of Swan and Laura M. (Bringleson) Banks, was born at Campbell, Nebraska January 30, 1906. The family moved to Farnam in 1911.
She graduated from the Farnam High School in 1923, after which she taught school for five years.
On July 14, 1929, she was married to Charley Davis. To this union was born five children, Mrs. Orville (Jeweldine) Gaibler of Moorefield, Kent of Farnam; Mrs. Russell (Charlot) Williams, Cambridge; and Glen of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Charley and Elsie lived their entire married life on the farm a mile and a half west of Farnam.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Farnam, where she taught the Junior Sunday School class for many years.
Elsie is survived by her children, eleven grandchildren; three sisters; Mrs. Leonard Larson of Gothenburg; Mrs. Ralph Walters of Blakely, Georgia; [Mrs. Frank Reeves of Gothenburg]; one brother, Arvid of Farnam and other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard and David.
Elsie was devoted to home, family, friends, and her church. Family and friends are witness to the fact that to know her was to love her. Truly, it can be said of her, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Services were held on April 8, 1975 at 2:00 pm at the Church of The Nazarene in Farnam with Rev. Harold Ellis officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sukraw and Mrs. Wayne Joy provided the music for the service.
Honorary pallbearers were Truman Barrett, Ernest Lewis, Raymond Smith, Herman Rieker, A.H. Jorgensen, and Vern Brouillette.
Pallbearers were Clarence Oberg, Lawrence Oberg, Gilbert Hess, Dale McNickle, Bruce Barrett, and Forest Johnson.
Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery, Farnam, Nebraska.
