W. B. Cole Dies at Age of 86
Services were Friday, March 17 at the United Methodist Church in Farnam for Weaver B. Cole who passed away at Slack Nursing Home on Wednesday, March 15 at the age of 86. Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.
Weaver Bryan Cole was born July 27, 1892 at Doniphan to Charles Jacob Cole and Lucinda Victoria Robinson Cole. His early life was spent living with his family on a farm near Doniphan. He attended the Doniphan schools, graduating from Doniphan High School and from the York School of Business.
He was married to Dorothy Agnes True at Hastings in 1916. They farmed in the Doniphan area until 1927 when he moved his family to a farm south of Farnam. He lived the remainder of his life in the Farnam and Gothenburg area.
He was active in Farnam civic affairs serving as chairman of the Farnam village board for four years. He served as sec.-treas. of the Farnam Cemetery Board for nine years, and was a member of the Farnam Methodist Church and Farnam Odd Fellows Lodge.
His survivors include his sons, Dale and Wanda Cole of North Palm Beach, Florida; Jack Cole of Rapid City, South Dakota; Kenneth and Virginia Cole of Denver, Colorado; his daughter, Jean McNickle of Manhattan, Kansas, and his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lloyd Cole of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Conducting the service was Rev. Leonard S. Clark. Providing the music were Mrs. Robert Speck, Mrs. Anton Kotschwar and Mes. Pansy Piersol.
Casket bearers were Russ Wilcox, Gerald Thompson, Jack Martin, Ralph Parker, Dick Edson and Stanly Haynes.
