MRS. D. W. BROOKS PASSES AWAY LAST FRIDAY AT HER HOME

The community was shocked and grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. D. W. Brooks last Friday. Mrs. Brooks had a telephone conversation that morning with her daughter, Mrs. Arvid Banks, and later sit with Mr. Brooks reading the morning mail and visiting. Mr. Brooks went out doors to attend to some work, and when he returned he found her, as she had been sitting when he left with fancy work in her hands. Mrs. Brooks had been in poor health for the past few years, but her sudden passing was a shock to her family and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Farnam Methodist church Monday afternoon, with Rev. Fred H. Johnson, local pastor in charge. Burial was at the Farnam cemetery.

Emma Mae Bowlin, youngest daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Elisha Bowlin, was born in Macomb, Ill., March 4, 1867. She moved with her parents to Burnside, Ill., in 1870. In 1883 she moved to Seward county, Nebraska, where she grew to womanhood. In 1893 she came to Frontier county.

She was converted in 1896 and joined the M. E. church.

She was married March 3, 1898 to David Brooks. To this union was born four children, Madora Fern Banks of Moorefield; Cecil Floyd, deceased; Florence Mary Best of Norton, Kans.; Carl Bowlin Brooks, Cincinnati, Ohio.

She passed away July 28th at the age of 72 years, 4 months, and 24 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, three children, two brothers, and one sister, besides a host of friends.
