Mary J. Ford was born April 2, 1827 near Toronto, Canada, where she grew to womanhood. Sept. 1, 1845, she married John S. Boyle, who died Oct. 10th, 1875. Eight children were born to them, three dying in infancy, and one, A daughter, Mrs. Rachel Goodwin, died in 1883 aged 36 years. The remaining four, three sons [George, Heber S. and Albert S.] and one daughter, Mrs. S. D. Rice, were present at the time of her death. Soon after her marriage they moved to Chicago, later to Saybrook, McLean county, Ill., where the family resided until the death of Mr. Boyle in 1875. The family moved to Hall county, Neb. in 1884 where they live one year, removing for there to Frontier county in 1885, where she has continued to reside ever since. Early in life she and her husband united with the Presbyterian church. Later on she united with the M. E. church of which she was a member at the time of her death. Mrs. Boyle was a Christian woman, a faithful mother, always kind and ready to help those in need and her children by kindly advice and good example, brave and strong in time of trouble that came to her. The family have the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.
