Curtis Mayor Dies at 66
CURTIS — A resident of Curtis since 1919 and present mayor of that town, Arvel M. Beery, 66, died Friday at his home. Mr. Beery was born June 23, 1903 in Farnam and was a retired rural mail carrier.
He is a member of the Curtis Chamber of Commerce, past president of the Rotary Club and an antique dealer.
Survivors include two sons, Warren, Santa Maria, Calif. and Wesley, Boulder, Colo.; five grandchildren; one great-granchild; two sisters, Mrs. Inez Howard, Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Esther Brunson, Custer City, Okla.; six brothers, Lloyd, Laramie, Wyo.; Glen and Loren, both of Van Nuys, Calif.; Donald, Gothenburg; Clinton, Fresno, Calif. and Howard, Ft. Morgan, Colo.; and his step-mother, Mrs. Ellen Beery, Gothenburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Curtis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Truman Bachenberg officiating.
Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery with Wetzel Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The casket will not be open.
