Mary V. (McMichael) Beck, 71, of Farnam, died Thursday, Sept. 17, 1992 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

The funeral was Monday morning at the Farnam United Methodist Church, Rev. Arnold Teachout officiating. Music was provided by Tom Oberg and Donna Hazen. Interment was in the Farnam Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Meryl, Marvin and Dallas McMichael, Doug, Ron, Ken and Scott Adkisson, Bob Fisher and Roger Berry. Honorary bearers were Mary's family and friends.

Mary Viola, daughter of Richard C. and Julia A. (McCarl) McMichael, was born April 12, 1921 at Orafino, NE. She married Norman Welton Leslie Beck on Aug. 27, 1945 at Oberlin, KS. After their marriage they lived in California and New York. They resided 19 years at Espanola, NM where she was bookkeeper for Auto Parts Specialists, their family business. She was a member of the Valley View United Methodist Church, it women's group and the church choir, also the hospital auxiliary. From 1977-1981 they resided in Albuquerque, NM where she was active in the church choir, as well as in Farnam United Methodist Church after they moved there in 1981. In Farnam she was also a member of the VFW and American Legion auxiliaries.

Survivors include her husband, Les of Farnam; son, Larry of Durango, CO; daughter, Cathy (Mrs. Ron) Straughan of El Paso, TX; three brothers, Rich of Farnam,Herb of Fort Morgan, CO, Clifford Jr. "Mike" of Hermiston, OR; three sisters, Mildred Adkission of Farnam, Julia Schnieder of Hermiston, OR, Ruth Fisher of Moorefield; grandchildren, Dennis and Les Smith and Juliann and Alan Straughan.

Preceded her in death were her parents, a daughter, Cheryl Mae, four sisters and one brother.

Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Society and the Farnam United Methodist choir.
