At the age of four years, his family moved to Minnesota. His mother passed away when he was nine years of age and his father raised the family of five children.

In 1900, they moved to Cedar County, Nebraska where he met and married Alice Murkle in 1903. To this union seven children were born; Emily Bristow of Clever, Missouri; Alice Cleo who died in infancy; Frances Meick and Lyle P. of Alamosa, Colorado; Gladys Beery of Curtis; Welton Leslie of San Diego, California, who is in the U.S. Navy and Fred Delos, Jr., of the home.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, six children, ten grandchildren, a brother Ulysses and other relatives and friends.
