Swan J. Banks
Swan J. Banks passed away at his home west of town, early
Tuesday morning of this week. Mr. Banks had been in ill health
for the past few years, but was not seriously sick, preceding
his death, but a few days, being able to be about his home.
The many friends feel distinctly the loss of this friend, who
they have held dear in their hearts, and extend heartfelt
sympathy to the relatives.
Swan J. Banks was born in Sweden, January 31, 1857, where he
grew to manhood. He emigrated to America in 1880, coming first
to Tarkio, Missouri. A few years later he moved to Webster
county, Nebraska.
He was married to Laura Bringelson, November 18, 1890, and
seven children were born to this union.
He moved his family to Farnam, Nebraska, in 1911, and has
made his home here since.
Among the many relatives and friends whom he leaves are his
wife, two sons, Arvid and David, four daughters, Emma, Marie
(Mrs. Frank Reeves), Mabel and Elsie (Mrs. Charles Davis), six
grandchildren, four brothers, Ben of Campbell, Nebraska, Arvid
and Baron, of Sweden and Fred of Colorado.
The eldest son, Leonard, gave his life on the battlefields of
France in October, 1918. Two sisters and a brother also
preceded him in death.
He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior in 1892 and he has
lived in close communion with Him ever since.
Peace be to his memory.
Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at
two o’clock, conducted by Rev. C. R. Tanner, with Rev. Carl R.
Carlson of the Gothenburg Free Mission church assisting.
Internment was made in the Farnam cemetery.
