Minnie Banks
Minnie Banks, 94, of Morrison, Illinois, formerly of Gothenburg, died Thursday, June 12, 1997, at Pleasant View Nursing Home, Morrison, Illinois.
She was born March 22, 1903, at Gothenburg to John W. and Hannah Anderson Moore. She Married David E. Banks, June 4, 1924, at Norton, Kansas.
Minnie attended school in Gothenburg and attended Kearney Teachers College in Kearney. She taught in the rural school system of central Nebraska. Along with her husband, Rev. David Banks, she assisted in pastoring churches in Cozad and Clarion, Iowa. She was a former resident of the Gothenburg and Farnam area.
She was a member of the Clarion Church of the Nazarene in Clarion, Iowa.
Survivors include: one son, John W. "Bill" and Barb Banks of Morrison, Illinois; one daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Thornton, Clarion, Iowa; six grandchildren, Sharyl Byank, Vickie Toedorescu, Cynthia Mahalick, Bethany Lorenz, Michael Banks and Jason Banks and six great-grandchildren, Tracy, Gregory, Chelsey Banks, Alexander and Andrew Toedorescu and Paul Lorenz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, David E.; one daughter, Donna Bottita; two grandchildren, Rodney Banks, Frances Marie Byank and three sisters, Florence Eckstein, Fern Grady and Virginia Moore.
A memorial has been established.
Funeral services were Monday, June 16, 1997, 10:30 a.m. at Blasé Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, with Rev. Steve Bales officiating.
Burial was in the Farnam Cemetery.
Blasé Memorial Chapel, Inc. of Gothenburg was in charge of arrangements.
