Obituary Collection
Philip Balser

Philip Balser, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Balser, was born in the province of Hesse, Darmstadt, Germany, on July 1, 1851. In 1865 at the age of 14 years he came, with his parents to Dunkirk, N. Y., where on February 5, 1874, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth L. Koepke.

In the spring of 1887 they, with their family, moved to Farnam, Nebraska, and homesteaded in that vicinity, enduring the hardships of the pioneers, and sharing their joys and sorrows. In 1913 he moved to Plattsmouth, Nebr., where his wife passed away in 1925. Since then he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. L. B. Dalton, at Edgar, Nebr., from which point he has visited his other children from time to time.

He leaves two sons and three daughters, fifteen granchildren, besides many other relatives and friends. Besides his wife, one son has preceded him in death.

After a short illness he passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. B. Dalton, early Friday morning. Short services were held at the home Saturday morning and the body was taken to Farnam accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Dalton and other children where services held at the M. E. church and interment was made in the Farnam cemetery.
