Obituary Collection
Lawrence Roy Baker

Lawrence Roy Baker, 94, of North Platte, formerly of Farnam, passed away June 8, 2007, at his home in North Platte.

He was born Aug. 31, 1912, in Farnam to Bert and Myrtle Preston Baker. He lived out his childhood and much of his adult life there running a small farm and ranch while raising his family. His passion for life always rang through the stories he would tell of days gone by. The love and concern he had for his family was the rhythm of his heart. His strength shone through his many personal acts of unflinching living, like the time as a young man he lost a finger to a corn sheller and chose to walk four miles to town to have his finger reattached.

Lawrence passed away in his sleep leaving the Earth as peacefully as he lived in it. He joins his parents; Marie, his wife of nearly 71 years, who passed away just five months ago; and two grandchildren in the Eternal Kingdom of Heaven.

Lawrence is survived by his brother, Ray (Eleanor) Baker, 92, of Columbus. He will forever be in the hearts of his children and their spouses, Cecil (Rosie) Baker of Ruskin, Sherry (Merle) Lind of North Platte, Jim (Pat) Baker of Farnam and Gary (Debby) Baker of North Platte. His memory warms the lives of his 12 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

His family rallied by his side during his grief from the loss of his dearly deceased Marie. In this way we know his end brought him a great mercy and stands for us a testament to the indivisible power, now and forever, of love. A memorial has been established and online condolences can be made at www.adamsswanson.com.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Farnam Cemetery.

Visitation is today from noon to 6 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte.
