Obituary
Ethel Ruth Whitney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Whitney was born January 6, 1883 at Humboldt, Nebraska, and died Tuesday, June 11, 1918. When a child her parents moved to Farnam, Nebraska, where they have since resided.
After a brief courtship she was married to Martin V. Babcock of near Farnam, January 26, 1901, after which they moved to their farm where she resided until her death. To this union were born six children, Dora, Mattie, Violet, Burdett, Luella and the infant born three weeks before the mother's death.
In all her life she essayed to keep her children in the Sabbath school; though she made no profession of religion, she endeavored to govern her children in a manner that they would naturally seek the Christian religion.
She leaves to mourn her departure, a father and mother, brother and sister, her husband and six children, as well as a number of other relatives, and a host of friends in the community. She will long be missed, and remembered as a kind, helpful member of the community. Our one hope is that the Lord of all the earth shall do right.
The funeral services were held at the Farnam Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. B. J. Minort; interment at the Farnam cemetery.
