Wm. Adkisson Obituary
William Elijah Adkisson, son of William J. and Maggie Adkisson, was born near Shelby in Polk County, Nebraska, March 20, 1881. He passed from this life at his home in North Platte September 5, 1941, at the age of 60 years, 5 months and 16 days.
His early life was spent in Frontier County. On September 17, 1903, he was married to Lucy Messersmith at Stockville. To this union was born one daughter, Margaret Angeline, who lived only a few months.
Survivors are his wife, one foster son, Elden Thompson of Norfolk, his father W.J. Addison of Farnam, two sisters, Mrs. Tom Hastings of Elsie, and Mrs. Ira Wear of Farnam. He leaves several nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
He was affectionate and kind, and was a great home-lover. He spent much of his leisure time caring for his lawn and flowers. We shall miss him, but he leaves with us only happy memories.
Funeral services were held at the Farnam Methodist Church Sunday, September 7, with Rev. L.H. Messersmith in charge. Pallbearers were Bob Hastings, Harold Adkisson, Carl Wear, Kenneth Messersmith, Alton Messersmith, and Orvis Messersmith, all nephews of Mr. and Mrs. Adkisson. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet, Rev. Anderson, Mrs. Harry Saum, Mrs. Lynn Crossgrove, and Dan McNickle. Interment was made in the Farnam Cemetery.
