In Memorium
In memory of John Cecil Adkisson,
infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John Adkison,
who died June 1, 1904.
Little Cecil, how we miss you!
Miss thy presence, our dear;
How our hearts pour out in anguish
For the form no longer here.
Oh! his joyous baby prattle;
Sweetest music to our ear
Tho´ we may no longer hear it,
Angel forms now stoop to hear.
In our minds his image lingers;
Bright brown eyes and golden hair,
And the expression "sweet and gentle"
Stamped its meaning deeply there.
