Wear Wins at Gothenburg

Clinton Wear, Farnam’s lone entrant in the Gothenburg Relays came home with a first place gold medal for hurling the javelin 154' 11". His first throw, a distance of 165' 4" was disqualified because of an inaccurate method of measuring employed by the official in charge of the event. This particular throw would have beaten the old record held by Carter of Gothenburg at 158' 9".

The Farnam Echo 35(34):1, Thursday, 27 April 1939
