Destructive Fire at Farnam

Early last Sunday morning a very destructive fire visited the town of Farnam, in the extreme southwest corner of the county, totally destroying the big department store known as “The Best Place.” The fire was first discovered at about 2 o’clock, and had gained such headway that the efforts of the firemen were futile and the big building and stock of goods were entirely consumed. The origin of the fire is a mystery. The loss is estimated at $50,000, with a partial insurance.

The proprietors of the store were Elwood Clark and Will Parker. It will be a severe loss, not only to the owners, but to the town.
